Effects of Overdoing It

So I had planned out a post on metabolisms, but in light of what just happened to me, I'm changing it to some of the effects of pushing our bodies beyond their limits.

Sarah Dessen is one of my absolute favorite authors, so she has the honor of being my first Featured Author.  Her books definitely target a YA audience because each of the characters in her books are teenagers.  Although I am 22, and no longer a teenager, I still immensely enjoy the stories.

Weighing In

So, as tempted as I was to step on the scale this past week, I waited it out and now it is Sunday, my own personal weigh-in day.  As most of you might already know, our weight fluctuates daily, so for most (not all), it is best to not weigh yourself too frequently.  I'm going to stick to weekly weigh ins to track my progress.

Importance of Cardio

So I've mention stubborn belly fat before and I'm sure this will not be the last time I talk about it.  It is an issue for me and I would love to blast it all right off.  I believe part of my problem is that I do not have enough cardio in my exercise plan.

Crunches and Planks

I stumbled across the link below last night and I was intrigued enough to try it out.  With the title proclaiming "Fast Track to a Flat Belly!" and going on to claim that you can lose 4 lbs and 3 inches in 7 days, I thought, why not?  I don't have anything to lose at this point.

Stubborn Belly Fat

Tangled, Yoga and some Inspiration

I am 22 years old, but Tangled has me enraptured like I'm 7 again.  I love all of the songs, but I am particularly drawn to the song from the credits.  I personally think that it is a great song to listen to first thing in the morning.  Enjoy!!

Keep Your Chin Up!

This post is the result of a recent gym experience of mine.  For a bit of back story, I used to run track in high school (technically I racewalked - go ahead, you can laugh) and one of the things that has stuck with me through the years is running form.  In particular, keeping your chin up and level.  While I was on the elliptical at the gym, I noticed my gaze tended to head downward to focus on the timer on the machine.  Ugh, I really hate that timer.  It constantly reminds me how terrible my stamina has become over the years.

Water Bottles

One of my issues back in high school was that I was constantly dehydrated...apparently most people do not drink enough daily.  I then made the unfortunate discovery of soda in college and became addicted.  Coca-cola, a source of caffeine and sugary goodness, also empty calories and my ultimate weakness.  Resisting is very difficult, but I've done it for a few days now and hopefully I will be successful in breaking my bad and unhealthy habit.

Do a Squat

I have to say, squatting is wonderful.  I did not really appreciate squats as much until I added weights and really felt my abs being engaged.  Of course, squats work out other muscles too, like your quads, hamstrings and butt muscles!

FITNESS

One of the first steps when it comes to losing weight is apparently to talk about it, put it out in the open and hold yourself accountable.  Make things visible so that you try not to fail while other people are watching you.  It's an interesting idea and one that I'm going to try to adopt here.
